My Happy Marriage season 1 spoilers to follow.
In some ways, Miyo's life has only just begun. Since leaving her paternal, Cinderella-esque childhood home, she's thrived in her new life with her fiancé Lord Kiyoka Kudo.
Once scorned for her lack of spirit sight, the shunned Miyo started to find the confidence to love herself even without supernatural gifts. That was until a family secret revealed that she has one of the most coveted gifts locked inside her.
Now, to remain safe from those who wish her harm, Miyo must give up her life with Lord Kudo and take up residence in her maternal family home, where she'll learn how to harness her power.
The question is, can she leave Lord Kudo behind? And will the besotted Kiyoka let her go?
Of course, all good questions are better answered in another season. Here's everything we know about the return of your favourite romance anime.
My Happy Marriage season 2 potential release date: When's it on?
My Happy Marriage has officially been greenlit for a second season!
The news came via a post on X/Twitter from the show's official account before the final episode aired.
Miyo voice actor Reina Ueda and Kaito Ishikawa (who plays Kiyoka) also shared their excitement via YouTube. Ueda teased that following the first season, now their story "finally begins".
Ishikawa added, with a producer's permission, that: "There might even be some new characters too...? I hope you look forward to those."
No air date has been given, but we did at least get a sweet new visual to coincide with the Japanese festival Tanabata. The official anime account posted an illustration of Miyo and Kiyotaka celebrating the Star Festival under the stars.
While we might still be in the dark as to when we are getting the second season, we can officially look forward to a treasure trove of stories just waiting to be told. There are four volumes of the manga and eight of the novel on which the anime is based, so there's plenty left to adapt.
My Happy Marriage season 2 cast: Who will be coming back?
Here are the main Japanese and English voice actors we would expect to return for My Happy Marriage season two:
- Miyo Saimori – played by Reina Ueda (Japanese) and Miranda Parkin (English)
- Kiyoka Kudou – played by Kaito Ishikawa (Japanese) and Damien Haas (English)
- Kouji Tatsuishi – played by Kotaro Nishiyama (Japanese) and Michael Lorz (English)
- Kanoko Saimori – played by Kana Ueda (Japanese) and Erica Schroeder (English)
- Kaya Saimori – played by Ayane Sakura (Japanese) and Lizzie Freeman (English)
- Shinichi Saimori – played by Hiroshi Yanaka (Japanese) and Richard Tatum (English)

However, judging by that stunning finale, neither Takayuki Sugo nor Richard Tatum will be back as the Emperor.
My Happy Marriage season 2 plot: What will happen?
Let's face it, Miyo's powers are epic, far more impressive than Kiyoka, and that's saying everything – but they've only just begun to surface.
It would be Kanoko-level cruel if My Happy Marriage didn't show us more of that bottled magic. Surely the Netflix gods wouldn't be that grotesque (see what we did there).
We'd also expect season two to pick directly from the events in the finale. The aftermath of the Emperor's actions is sure to have lasting consequences.
Could all the Grotesqueries really be gone, and were all the people connected to the unleashing of those demons really killed in one fell swoop by Miyo? It wouldn't be a leap to believe others could have been involved.
Beyond that, we would expect Miyo's evil paternal family, the Saimori's, to return. Something tells us Miyo's happiness and their downfall will be grounds for revenge in their eyes.
My Happy Marriage season 2 trailer: When can I watch it?
Sadly, not anytime soon. We'd place our bets for a sneak peek of the new season sometime in mid-2024, but we'll keep you updated.
Season one of My Happy Marriage is available to stream now on Netflix.
